Devine Carama visits Warren Wilson College (WWC)

Hip-hop artist, motivational speaker, educator and community activist Devine Carama visited Warren Wilson College (WWC) on Sept. 25. Carama is from Lexington, Ky, works for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and is the founder and director of the nonprofit organization, Believing In Forever Inc. Carama won an Emmy in 2022 for his song “Positively LEX 18.” Carama was brought on campus with the help of the Sullivan Foundation and one of its Sullivan Fellows cohort, including students Lois Akundo, Emily Cobb, Jetta Ghosthorse, Seimy Mendoza, Sandy Selvaraju, Shuree Ochirbat and Professor of Practice in Business Wendy Seligmann.

At WWC, he spoke with classes, had lunch with students and professor Kevin Kehrberg, and hosted an event in Canon Lounge where Sage Cafe provided tea and mugs for attendees to enjoy. At the event, Carama spoke about his life and provided wisdom and guidance. Carama also Freestyled for several minutes to end his presentation.
