On Thursday Sept. 1, The Warren Wilson College (WWC) Owls men and women’s soccer teams played back to back games against different opponents. This event is called a double-header.

The women’s team had a delayed start due to the late arrival of their new opponents from Atlantis University in Miami, FL.

Highlights of the women’s game included goalkeeper and senior player, Carrigan Causby, saving several goals for The WWC Owls at critical time stamps.

Emilio Robinson, sophomore and forward player, scored two goals for The WWC Owls, one goal leading to a WWC lead.

The final score of the game was a 2 to 2 tie.

At 5:50 p.m., the men’s game began against The Piedmont Lions.

In the early first half of the men’s game, Adolfo Castrejon scored the first goal of the game assisted by Will Feehan. The Piedmont Lions then scored two goals through the completion of the first half of the game.

Tying up the scores, junior and forward player Solomon Love scored a goal at the beginning of the second half of the game. The remainder of the game was a steady struggle between both teams to make another goal.

Contrary to past years at WWC, the athletics department now falls under National College Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations. This means that games resulting in ties are no longer required to move into overtime. Both the men and women’s team ended with a 2 to 2 tie.
