Pubsafe Abruptly Shuts Down “Boneyard Boogie Band’s” Debut

Vivian Bryan | September 18, 2024

“Boneyard Boogie Band,” a variation of the campus-famous “Belladonna Night Show” debuted at Sage Cafe on September 6th. Students came with lots of energy, dancing and lounging in Sage’s ambiance to the band's “funk, psych rock, and blues” tunes.

Despite the band themselves asking students to follow the “no open container” policy, the show was quickly shut down by public safety after an open alcoholic drink was found outside. In protest, the band and crowd kept going after the first warning until Public Safety (Pub Safe) threatened to close Sage Cafe for the entirety of the year.

Students were sent home, though some members of Sage Cafe crew and the band stayed to reckon and possibly compromise with Pub Safe. Though student efforts failed, and the show officially ended leading into a weekend with many more Pub Safe incidents to come.
