WWC Fall Sports Recap II

Maya Bartleson | November 8, 2023

This week our fall sports wrapped up their seasons with final games and our winter sports spent the week getting ready for their upcoming seasons - here is everything you need to know about our athletic department this week!

Warren Wilson’s women’s volleyball team finished their season against Montreat on Thursday, Nov. 2. The team battled hard against a tough team and was cheered on by some of the other student-athletes. Unfortunately, the team went down 0-3 (9-25, 9-25, 12-25) but that did not take away from the team’s accomplishments. Vera Pondolfo led the team with six kills and seven assists, Lillian DeMeglio carried the team’s defense with nine digs and Alyssa Collins had three blocks. The team finished the season 2-21 and is excited for the 2024 season.

Our cycling team hosted a cycling meet this past Saturday, Nov. 4, where several colleges came to race, including SCAD Atlanta, Lees McRae and Piedmont. We had several people on the podium including sophomore Emily Fredrickson who earned her first podium finish. Oscar Rathman also secured first place in his first cross-country cycling race.

Be on the lookout for your Owl’s basketball teams this week, the women's and men’s team both play their season opener! Women’s basketball plays on Nov. 8th against Toccoa Falls University and the men’s team plays at Covenant on Nov. 11.
