October Planetary Transitions
This month’s full moon will occur on Oct. 9 at 4:55 p.m. The moon will peak in Aries, providing a fiery and quick paced rhythm to the moon’s softness and emotionality. There is a partial solar eclipse during the new moon on Oct. 25 at 6:49 a.m. The new moon occurs in Scorpio, creating a heightened mystery to an already shadowed period.
The very first astrological movement of October is Mercury going direct. This is not the only direct motion occurring in the solar system; October will be a month of clarity for many and a sense that individuals are back on track. Mercury rules communication and causes disruption or confusion when in retrograde (Rx). The shift out of Rx will allow people to feel that they can freely express their thoughts without stumbling. The planet will be in Virgo at this time, creating an additional sense of groundedness and organization.
On Oct. 10 at 7:51 p.m., Mercury will move into Libra. This shift will send people back into a state of some wariness, as Libra is the sign of the scales and can often take extra time to weigh the most favorable course of action.
The end of October will be capped off by a final transition of Mercury into Scorpio. This transition may make individuals feel as though they leave conversations without having fully expressed the entirety of their thoughts.
Venus moves into Scorpio on Oct. 23 at 3:52 a.m. Loving and sensual Venus will thrive in Scorpio, one of the most sensual zodiac signs. Scorpio rules the abdomen, which is why there is an assumption that Scoprios are sexual. This planetary pairing will be a great period of time for those in relationships.
Just before Halloween, Mars will Rx in Gemini. This will create an air of diplomacy regarding conflict. Gemini is a thinker and Mars is the action planet. When in Rx, the qualities of an interaction are slightly diminished. Feelings of aggression may seem complex and muddied at this time.
Also on Oct. 23 at 12:07 a.m. is Saturn’s direct motion. Saturn is the planet of structure and authority. Expectations will become clearer or more easily vocalized. The planet will be in Aquarius at this time, however, creating a rebellious and individualistic perspective regarding authority.
Oct. 8 at 5:55 p.m. is Pluto’s direct motion. See previous astrology columns for more information about the significance of Pluto housing Capricorn and how Rx and direct motion communicate.
