December Planetary Transitions
The last new moon of the year will take place in Sagittarius on December 4 at 2:43 AM. The full moon will peak in Gemini on December 18 at 11:35 PM. These moons bring in a swift and fiery exit for the 2021 year, and ask us to be passionate and contemplative.
In the middle of the month on December 13 at 12:52 PM, Mercury will enter Capricorn. This is an excellent sign for Mercury to be in during a tumultuous holiday season as Capricorn is intuitive, confident and very smart with money. The phrase “business as usual” has no stronger meaning than now.
Although Venus does not find itself transitioning to a new sign, this month has a Venus Retrograde (RX) in Capricorn on December 16 at 5:36 AM. Although Capricorn is not the most romantic of the zodiac, this sign’s traits when in Venus attract wealth and ambition. This is a surprisingly convenient placement for the gift-giving and festive season. RX additionally produces a deeper connection with these traits or possibly more distance from them. Pay attention to which you notice in yourself.
Also occurring on December 13 at 4:53 AM is the transition of Mars into Sagittarius. These two pair well together, as Mars rules Aries — another fire sign. This placement signals heightened passion and intensity. However, take caution in confrontational situations as Sagittarius’ impulsive nature can make a volatile cocktail when in Mars, the ruler of aggression.
To welcome the month of December, Neptune goes direct on the first at 8:22 AM. When Neptune is in Pisces, as it is now (and will be until 2025), there is an abundance of compassion and empathy available. Although not everyone taps into this or welcomes it, Neptune Direct will allow the world to expand the inwardly focused forgiveness to the rest of the world. No better time than at the turn of a new year; we should each focus our efforts on extending kindness to others.
The last planetary movement of the year is Jupiter’s movement into Pisces on December 28 at 11:09 PM. The expansive nature of Jupiter will tap into Pisces’ gentleness and creativity, allowing for a gentle exit out of 2021 and entrance into 2022. When Jupiter first moved into Pisces, the US lifted mask mandates and a sense of ease washed over the country. Due to a regular RX, Jupiter appeared to have moved backward into Aquarius, which occurred in conjunction with the return of mask mandates. Keep this in mind as Jupiter moves back into Pisces.
