Chapter Two

Welcome to the second installment of my first novel, Larita & Lyle!

My hope is that you’re here because you’ve read the first chapter and are looking for the next piece.

The second chapter of my novel will dive into Lyle’s perspective. The pair are somewhere in Oklahoma, dealing with illness as the main conflict for this portion.

A part of my writing that is very important with a novel like this is research. That is not possible without the hard work of archivers and journalists, carefully writing and researching what our past in this country has been like.

I watched videos of hospitals in the 1930s and reviewed police uniforms and other components of life such as clothing and technology for this novel.

If you have time while you’re reading, try to do some of your own research about the 1930s!

Keep an eye out for dramatic irony that will provide context and support for the third chapter.

If I were to create any sort of warning, the warning would be minor gun violence occurring toward the end of this chapter.
