“Felix and Jo’s Espresso Bar”

Exciting New Sage Cafe Event

“Felix and Jo’s Espresso Bar” debuted Dec. 8, 2024, as a Sunday Sage Cafe event serving a variety of espresso drinks and hot chocolate. The first two openings were a huge success as students and community members filled the space to get affordable coffee drinks. The operation runs on “sliding scale” prices ($3-$5) with little to no profit to the team members.

Ran by sophomores Josephine ‘Jo’ Zinger, Felix Mottola-Golluber and Bella Abeles on the Owls Nest Cafe crew, they consider this operation to be a “passion project.”

“Both of us are really passionate about coffee, it's something that is really exciting for us,” Zinger said.

The idea sparked from frustration in the lack of control the baristas were experiencing at Owls Nest.

“Sodexo has their foot in every aspect of Owls Nest, it was getting really frustrating to not be able to serve coffee that we were happy with,” Zinger said.

With Sage Cafe as the backdrop and working closely with the senior student supervisor of Sage Cafe, Ella Rabbino, the project has big plans for the future. Felix and Jo plan to carry this project on until they graduate and eventually pass it down to the next group of inspired Baristas. Be sure to check this group out in action every Sunday starting tentatively February 2, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Sage Cafe.
