The Theater’s New Adventure: Metamorphoses

Roan Church | February 15, 2024

With the season coming to an end and the days growing longer, change has been a constant in these past couple of months — from change in the weather, environment, or even in dorms. And with this change, the Warren Wilson College (WWC) Theater crew are so excited to announce their newest performance and its showcase of change: A collection of Greek myths retold in a rather warm manner.

The Theater Crew's newest production, titled “Metamorphoses”, will be a performance of Greek myths in a new style that allows for creativity and vibrance on stage. The performance is expected April 12 through 14 with auditions around the corner for this coming Monday, February 19, and Tuesday, February 20.

With numerous plays that have been produced in the past  — all hosted by the Theater Crew — now comes the chance to gain some theater experience and meet many wonderful people. The crew openly encourages the addition of new people to try out and join the WWC production, advertising across campus.

The performance is still a work in progress, with decisions regarding roles and casting yet to be made. That being said, auditions for “Metamorphoses” are nearing.

The Theater Crew spoke about this upcoming play and what they anticipated.

“As soon as you get cast, you start thinking about your part and not the play,” Candace Taylor, the Theater Crew supervisor, said.

The Theater Crew are very excited to begin production on the play, starting with auditions and set design. They stated — without spoiling too much — that one of the portions of the play is the story of Midas and his ability to change items into gold with his touch, though not without significant pain and emotion.

With so many exciting roles and new faces, the Theater Crew is encouraging as many people as possible to audition for this fantastic play and experience.

With all the changes that are happening, it is, as always, a worthwhile endeavor to visit the theater to take part or watch a performance contrived with both passion and professionalism. To find out more about the play and auditions visit WWC theater's Instagram, @wwc_theatre.
