Pachanga Event Hosted by the LSC: Tamales, Piñatas and Waterslide

Tyson Lewis & Willow Solomon | April 20, 2023

April 16 marked the third annual Pachanga hosted by the LatinX/e Student Collective (LSC) on Sunderland Lawn and Owl’s Nest Patio. An afternoon celebrating LatinX/e culture and the presence of LatinX/e community members. Students, faculty and children of the Warren Wilson College (WWC) community gathered for the festivities.

Amongst the sound of Cumbia music people ate tamales from the local restaurant Tamaleria Y Tortilleria Molina and watermelon cubes with Tajin and Chamoy. Similarly to last year, there was a station for making t-shirts with spray paint and custom handmade Pachanga stencils. A slip and slide was on the grass and the centerpiece of the event was a piñata which the community took turns hitting until its candy contents spilled out.
