WWC November Sports Recap

Maya Bartleson | November 30, 2023

Welcome back from fall break! While our students were all heading home for break, our Warren Wilson Owls were kicking off our basketball season.

Our boys have started their season with a 1-5 record. With a new coach and a team with new transfers and first years, our team has shown grit and determination. Offensively, Antonio Banuelos leads the team with an average of 14 points per game and Ibraheem Essader has a .400% behind the three point line. Defensively, Antonio Banuelos and Nasir Cotton are top rebounders for the team.

Our lady owls are 0-7, but their record does not reflect their playing. The team has played very exciting games and we are excited to continue to watch them play through the season. Speaking of exciting to watch, freshman Weronika Swojack is making her name known with impressive statistics both defensively and offensively. But she’s not the only one making waves: Moosie Lewis leads the team with 11 assists and Hailey Ripley has a .392 percentage for three pointers.

Make sure to keep an eye out for Warren Wilson Athletics social media for the team’s upcoming games!
