Sage Cafe: This Place Has Everything
Kai Meyer | April 4, 2024
Hello, dearest Echo-philes. I am back again with an update on Warren Wilson College’s (WWC) hottest club: Sage Cafe. This place has everything. Well… almost everything. I spoke with Ella Rabbino this week, to find out more about Sage Cafe’s grand opening.
“Things are looking a little bit different than we had anticipated, but we’re excited to just have fun with the space for the rest of the semester,” Rabbino said.
The financial demands for creating a fully functional cafe were slightly more than the school could accommodate right now, so the crew leaders have pivoted their priorities. For now, the crew is focusing on community building through events.
We are talking music nights, we are talking poetry readings, we are talking showcasing student art.
“We want to make this a space that uplifts students outside of work and school,” Rabbino said.
However, before we can dive into the plethora of exciting events, there are a few logistical things that need attention, like a fresh coat of paint from painter Dave.
Though fear not!
On April 12— in less than two weeks — Sage will be opening its doors to host Crazy Music Night, featuring classic WWC staples like The Belladonnas and Jesus is the Pathway to Heaven.
The crew will be following this event up with an educational event. On April 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Rabbino will be hosting a teach-in on the ongoing strife and current events in Palestine and Israel.
As part of the teaching, that event will have plenty of food for all who attend to recognize and honor Palestinian culture.
For now, those are the only Sage Cafe updates and events. It is in a bit of a holding pattern, building community in the meantime, but keep your eyes peeled for a cheeky surprise in the future.
