Olivia Wamsley, a senior at Warren Wilson College (WWC), took in a blonde-haired cat during January of this year after seeing a Craigslist ad pop up on their feed. Wamsley explained that she named her cat, Mangs, after former landscaping supervisor Erik Mangs because “they are both blonde-haired and look a little grumpy.”

Mangs is described as a very smart cat with a big personality, known to sing and chirp all day, as well as loving cuddles and following Wamsley around the whole house like a shadow. Wamsley believed he could be some sort of Manx cat because he has no tail.  He also has “impressively large canines.” She plans to buy Mangs a DNA test as his Christmas present so she can find out his breed for sure.

Mangs is known to be a fan of Churus, a popular purée cat treat, but isn’t picky when it comes to snacks. Last year, when Wamsley lived in a suite, Mangs became obsessed with beef jerky and he tore through packages he found around the house, either belonging to Wamsley or her suitemates. After that discovery, jerky was no longer kept in the house.

Wamsley says her favorite things about Mangs are his singing and general noises, along with the way he demands attention and pettings in the early morning with cuddles. Any rejection results in a little suffocation, as he decides that laying his weight over Wamsley’s face is a good motivator.
