Spikes and Sets: Men’s Volleyball Team Wins Home Game

Lindsey Botkin | February 14, 2024

On Friday, Feb. 9 the men's volleyball team played their sixth game, facing Avrett College. The game was one of the most well-attended sporting events of the 2023-2024 year, with students showing up throughout the game.

The energy in the crowd was palatable as the match went on. The Owls themselves felt the energy of the crowd as they were playing.

Ricky Castillo, the libero on the team, expressed his gratitude toward the event’s attendance.

“We were really happy with the crowd turnout, the support from the school was amazing, especially since we were a new team this year,” Castillo said.

Fans got on their feet to clap, scream and stomp when our Owls scored a point. Many people,  in the stands heard about the game through word of mouth, including the team members themselves inviting everyone they knew. Some of the players have just started playing volleyball this year, further contributing to the team's compatibility and commitment on and off the court.

Stay on the lookout for more Men’s Volleyball home games to get a chance to support the Owls as they continue to set and spike their way to victory!
